These QB were some of the gutsiest men in the country; they had the riskiest job there was: to keep the country growing and moving forward with the establishment of domestic Air Mail flown in their Jennies and De Havillands. This is where the concept of “Call-Ins” for QB Meetings originated. Starting with Earle Ovington (1879-1936) in 1911, other QB pilots included Dean Smith (1589), Eddie Allen (2669), Harold “Slim” Lewis (2302), Randolph Page (1820), E. Hamilton Lee (3135), and Dick Merrill (1305A). (2015, TRT 20:25)
